Satyan Gajwani is a Founding Partner of Mercurius Media Capital (MMC). He is part
of the Executive Leadership and Investment Committee Team at MMC.
Satyan Gajwani is the Chairman of Times Internet, India’s largest digital products
company and the digital arm of The Times of India. He also serves on the board of
Bennett Coleman and Company, the parent company of the Times Group.
Satyan’s entrepreneurial zeal has created a solid cultural foundation, vision, and
cross-functional team operating across 39+ business segments. He started his career
as an Equities trader with the Lehman Brothers. He was appointed the Director of
New Media by the Times of India group in 2008. Four years later, he took over as the
CEO of Times Internet, the company’s online arm. Satyan holds a Bachelor’s and
Master’s degree from Stanford University, in Mathematical and Computational
Science and Management Science and Engineering respectively.
Piyush Puri is the Founding Partner of Mercurius Media Capital (MMC), where he leads the firm’s Executive Leadership and Investment Committee. At the helm of MMC, Piyush drives the vision and strategy for building a category-defining media-for-equity ecosystem through the first dedicated fund of its kind in the United States, leveraging capital, creativity, and scale to transform media into a strategic growth lever for breakout companies.
He also serves as President of BCCL Worldwide Inc. (BWI), the North American arm of The Times of India Group, India’s largest media conglomerate. In this role, he oversees the group’s regional sales and investment operations, including leadership of Brand Capital International (BCI). At BCI, he has played a pivotal role in enabling over 30 portfolio companies from North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Australia to enter and scale in the Indian market.
Before assuming global leadership roles, Piyush built a strong foundation in finance and deal-making. He began his career in investment banking at SBI Capital Markets, focusing on the energy, environmental, and industrial sectors. He also contributed to the M&A team at China Light & Power, supporting their India-focused expansion strategy from Hong Kong and Mumbai.
Piyush holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and an MBA from XLRI School of Business. His intellectual and interdisciplinary interests extend further – he also holds a a Master’s in the Psychology of Leadership from Penn State University, is a CFA Charterholder, a Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and has a Master’s in Modern and Contemporary Indian Art.
